Northney Sweater Pattern for Kids by Emma Sadler

Northney Sweater Pattern for Kids by Emma Sadler

Northney Sweater Pattern by Emma Sadler Designs

This Northney Sweater pattern, or jumper pattern, was designed for my grandson to wear during this winter. The sweater is knitted in the round, in one piece from the top down, with the sleeve stitches put onto scrap yarn and finished after the body.

The sweater has a yoke which is knitted in Sirdar Baby Crofter, the rest of the jumper is knitted in the plain Sirdar Baby Snuggly. The edgings are worked in garter stitch.

The whole jumper uses between 130g and 300g of DK baby yarn, of which approx 1/3 is the Crofter yarn used for the yoke and edgings. This is a lovely yarn which gives the effect of fair isle.

Sandy Point Kids Hoodie Pattern by Emma Sadler Designs

This Sandy Point Kids Hoodie Sweater pattern, or jumper pattern, was designed for my grandson to wear during this winter.

This jumper was designed with my grandson in mind, but it would look fabulous on a girl too. It is top down, the main part of the body is in one piece with no seaming. The arms and neck are knitted using short rows. I added a hood as I like to think of this as a child surfer’s garment.

The body is knitted in Sirdar Snuggly Baby Crofter and the arms and hood are knitted in the plain Sirdar Snuggly. This gives a vest type impression when it is finished. Why not experiment with different yarns, including plain and patterned?

The whole jumper uses between 130g and 350g of DK baby yarn, of which approx 1/3 is the Crofter yarn. This is a lovely yarn which gives the effect of fair isle, without having to work with multiple colours.

Baby Rocky Photo-prop Pattern by Emma Sadler

Baby Rocky Photo-prop Pattern by Emma Sadler

Baby Rocky Photo-prop Pattern by Emma Sadler Designs

I designed Baby Rocky Photo-prop set for my step-grandson to wear in his first ever professional photo shoot. His mum wanted something cute and memorable. The outfit is designed to look like a boxer’s, with long shorts, boots, a head protector and boxing gloves. There is an added lace up detail as would be seen on a vintage style boxer’s kit.

Designed to be worn by a newborn to 3 month old baby to be photographed in rather than everyday wear, this set only comes in one size which is purposefully oversized. Photo prop clothing sets are becoming more popular with parents when having their baby’s professional photos taken.

The finished set takes around 120g of DK weight yarn. I used slightly more red than white, but feel free to mix this around as you prefer.

Extraordinary Edith Shrug Pattern by Emma Sadler

Extraordinary Edith Shrug Pattern by Emma Sadler

Edith Shrug Pattern by Emma Sadler Designs

Edith is one of three shrugs in a set, using the same basic shape but worked with a different type of knitting stitch. These shrugs are perfect to pop over your shoulders when you are watching TV, relaxing on the sofa or to cover up a little when sitting outside. The super chunky wool will keep you warm, even on the chilliest of evenings!

They are mainly knitted in a rectangle, from the bottom up. There is a little shaping at the back of the neck using short rows. The arm holes are made at the end by folding the edges together and sewing them up just part of the way. As it uses super chunky weight yarn the shrug will knit up quickly. Perfect if you want to whip up a quick gift for a loved one! The Edith shrug is knitted with the diagonal basket weave stitch. This is a really eye-catching stitch which looks more difficult than it is. The pattern uses 750g – 800g of super chunky weight yarn.

It is knitted bottom up, with set in sleeves and the band down the front and round the neck are picked up and knitted. The stockinette stitch makes it perfect for a variegated yarn but would also look fabulous in a plain colour.
