The Spring in Robin Hood’s Bay Boho style hat is knitted with 4ply / fingering weight yarn. It combines sections of a traditional Old Shale pattern with stocking stitch. It is designed to be worn with a close fitting rib band and then a much larger body. It is lightweight and therefore perfect for the changing seasons. I used what was left from a skein of sock yarn, so it’s the ideal project if you always end up with remnants.
The brim comes in small, medium or large. 17 (18, 19)“/43 (46, 48.5)cm. It has charted and written instructions plus a schematic.
The hat was knitted in The Knitting Goddess Britsock Yarn (40% British Bluefaced Leicester, 20% British Wensleydale, 20% British Alpaca, 20% Nylon) in colourway 15D Semi Solid Charcoal.
Thank you to my tech editor Linda Tabitha Thomas Studios
as well as all my wonderful test knitters.
The Spring in Robin Hood’s Bay Boho Hat pattern is knitted with yarn from The Knitting Goddess. I used her 4ply Britsock yarn, linked below, and it’s a dream to work with. The colour range is fabulous and you should check out her gradient sets. I love to promote British yarns whenever I can, so do let me know your favourites. I blocked my hat using a large dinner plate to show off the beautiful crown and give it the distinct Tam shape.

As always, when I’m knitting for the knitworthy members of my family or dear friends, I consider how they’re going to wear it, wash it, the colours they love and what styles they wear. In this case, it’s for me and I saw this yarn and fell in love with it. Knit Picks Wool of the Andes is a superwash yarn and knits up beautifully, it’s warm, washes well and comes in a fantastic range of colours.
