It is designed to be worn with a close fitting rib band and then a much larger body. It is a medium weight and therefore perfect for the changeable weather of autumn. It knits up quickly and so also makes a great last minute gift.
The hat was knitted in Blacker Tamar Lustre Blend DK (100% Pure New Wool) in colourway Camel.
I have made several versions of this hat, in 4ply, DK and chunky yarn. I love them all equally. The pretty lace patterning, the warm brim and the almost slouchy, boho styling of a beret or tam-o-shanter are great fun. I blocked my hat with a plate which allows the hat to stretch nicely into it’s circular shape for wearing later.add to cart show cart

As always, when I’m knitting for the knitworthy members of my family or dear friends, I consider how they’re going to wear it, wash it, the colours they love and what styles they wear. In this case, it’s for me and I saw this yarn and fell in love with it. Choose your colours and yarns with care and some thought to who will be washing the items.
