The Meet Me Inside cowl was designed whilst I was listening to the Hamilton soundtrack. If you are familiar with it you will know that the name, which is a line from the musical and is repeated a few times, seemed appropriate.
When working the Meet Me Inside pattern you will start with a provisional cast on and then come back around to kitchener the two ends together. If you have never done this in the round before a great tutorial can be found here – https://youtu.be/ZhFbOA0E4Eo
The name also refers to the fact that the cowl is knitted in the round and so doesn’t have a right and a wrong side. The inside is the same as the outside. You can grab your cowl and throw it on as you are leaving the house without having to worry about having it on inside out.
There is a plain stocking stitch section which sits nicely at the back of the neck so you can show off the pattern, or you could twist it round and show off the plain section if you prefer.
Either of these two sections can be repeated until Meet Me Inside is the length that you like. This means that whether you prefer your cowls long and loopy or short and snug you can get the perfect fit!
This is the perfect project to work on whilst on the go. It is small enough to pop in a bag and take with you whilst you are running errands. And the lace section is simple enough that you won’t need to follow a complicated chart. I found I was able to work on the Meet Me Inside cowl easily whilst watching TV, and so it is an ideal project for the long winter evenings.
The sample was knitted in Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino (55% Merino, 33% Acrylic, 12% Cashmere) in colourway Aqua and Debbie Bliss Angel (76% Mohair, 24% silk) in colourway Teal held together. I know that a lot of people don’t like to wear mohair, so just use your favourite sport weight yarn on its own. You will, however, get a lovely halo if you do decide to use the mohair.
