Autumn in Robin Hood’s Bay Beret Pattern
This stylish, boho Autumn in Robin Hood’s Bay hat pattern is the DK version of the Robin Hood’s Bay beret. It combines sections of a traditional Old Shale pattern with stocking stitch.
It is designed to be worn with a close fitting rib band and then a much larger body. It is a medium weight and therefore perfect for the changeable weather of autumn. It knits up quickly and so also makes a great last minute gift.
The Beret is knitted in the round on circular needles, but you can use dpns if you prefer.
About the Autumn in Robin Hood’s Bay Beret Pattern
I have made several versions of the Autumn in Robin Hood’s Bay hat, in 4ply, DK and chunky yarn. I love them all equally. The pretty lace patterning, the warm brim and the almost slouchy, boho styling of a beret or tam-o-shanter are great fun.
As you can see from the photos, my beautiful daughter Caitlin, loved wearing this hat. It’s a great style for teens and would make a lovely, last minute gift as it’s a quick knit in DK yarn.
I blocked my hat with a plate which allows the hat to stretch nicely into it’s circular shape for wearing later.
As always, when I’m knitting for the knitworthy members of my family or dear friends, I consider how they’re going to wear it, wash it, the colours they love and what styles they wear. In this case, it’s for me and I saw this yarn and fell in love with it. Choose your colours and yarns with care and some thought to who will be washing the items.
The Autumn in Robin Hood’s Bay Beret pattern is both charted and written, as not everyone loves charts.
